Meet Noah, a bored boy on summer break who's grounded because he got curious and dug up his mom's garden. Meet Kitty, a mysterious cat who sits in the yard across the street all day and all night . . . and gets very, very excited when she spots Noah watching her through his bedroom window. When Noah finally gains the courage to go and pet her, he learns many strange and magical things. For starters, the cat can talk. And, last but not least, the cat, Kitty, is a ghost, and she needs Noah to travel to the Afterlife to set her soul free. Will Noah make it out of the Afterlife alive? Will he retrieve Kitty's soul? Who knows, because this will be one dangerous, spooky adventure. Read . . . if you dare! About the author: Dean Shearer is a real spooky guy. When he's not writing he's usually doing spooky things, like, say, walking graveyards in the dead of night, or studying monster brains that sit in jars in his living room--actually, all over his house, for that matter. He stays up really late--because he's spooky. He is the author of many books and stories, including the short story RAIN AND THUNDER AND LIGHTNING, which is hilarious, and perfect for both children and adults. "I raced out the door and dashed through the streets. There was always something about running that I loved. As I took each step, one faster than the other, I could feel my worries fall off one by one, until the point I would be fully free. As I turned the corner, I came to a complete stop. A clear pair of pale green eyes. Then, it happened again. The scenery around me slowly turned to grey, the rustling of the trees come to a stop, and once again, I’m pulled back to that time. Replaying in my mind once more, I let myself succumb to the silence." - The CatMay is a young writer who is struggling to meet her next deadline. Frustrated, May takes a short break from writing and goes out into her neighborhood. Encountering a trigger to her memories, May recollects her memories of young love.

Theater Cat is the story of a small theater in a small town that has a big problem. On the first preview before the opening of Richard III, a mouse runs across the stage, sending the would-be king shrieking to the exit. The actor refuses to return until the mice are gone. Now the theater has four days to rid the building of rodents or face financial ruin. This unpleasant task is dumped in the lap of a young assistant stage manager named Celia. When traps and poisons fail, she adopts an ageing tomcat from the local shelter. Once a proud mouser, the cat is now an embittered loner who could care less whether mice live or die. As the cat is dragged unwillingly into the theater’s hidden world of Shakespearean mice and refugee shrews, however, he resolves to make his ninth life count for something. The cat finds that he has one fight left in him, one that will either save the theater or imperil all those who love it.
